High school students take the limelight at School of Art

Year 10 students from ACT high schools spent the day at the School of Art on Monday 4 August as part of Step into the Limelight

An ACT Government program, Limelight, features an exhibition at the School of Art, a film festival and a gala performance.

The visiting students created a mural with local Canberra artist and veteran of the Canberra street scene Byrd. They also created zines - small books made through collage, text and drawing - with a Canberra-based artist Caren Florance.

Schools involved in the workshops include Caroline Chisholm School, Canberra High School, Telopea Park School, Amaroo School, Stromlo High School and Campbell High School.

An exhibition featuring around 300 artworks by students from pre-school to year 12 opens on Tuesday and will be showing in the School of Art Gallery until 9 August.
